5 Nollywood stars whose movie names have almost taken over their real names (See List)

The following are some Nollywood stars whose real names seem to have gotten out of the lips of many people, while the names they once used in certain movies seem to have taken over.

Nkem Owoh:

Veteran Actor, 'Osuofia', Celebrates 63rd Birthday with 'a Word of Prayer' - METROWATCH

He’s a singer, comedian and an actor who was born in Udi town in Enugu state on February 7th, 1958. Although Nkem Owoh started acting as far back as 1987 in the legendary movie “Things Fall Apart”, he’s best known for the 2003 movie “Osuofia in London”, which later became the dawn of his new name, Osuofia.

Overtime, many people seem to forget his real name, while some don’t even know, but immediately Osuofia is mentioned, it serves as a recollection of who exactly is being talked about.

John Okechukwu Okafor

When it comes to acting as a stupid, funny, or humourous person in movies, it’s rare for you to count up to 10 people without adding the name John Okafor to the list. His name, “Mr. Ibu,” came from the 2004 movie in which he acted as the main character, alongside Osita Iheme as his son.

His hilarious acting in that movie earned him not just the name, but in subsequent times, became a whole part of him, as when he’s being called as a stand-up comedian in shows, that’s the name he answers.

Patience Ozokwor:

She’s an actress, fashion designer, singer, and most recently, an evangelist. She’s popularly known as “Mama G,” a name she got from the 2003 movie “Old School,” in which she acted alongside the late Sam Loco Efe. Afterwards, she’s acted in other movies, answering that name such that it’s now become a household name, not just in the movie industry but the whole country and beyond.

Rachael Okonkwo:

Obviously, not many know her by that name, but at the mention of “Nkoli Nwa Nsukka,” it acts as a recollection of who exactly is being talked about due to her exploits in the 2014 movie where she acted as Nkoli. Aside from movies, she’s also a dancer and tends to showcase that talent in some of the movies that she acts in.

Funke Akindele:

Funke Akindele is a veteran Nollywood actress who’s known by the name “Jennifer”, which is attributed to her television series “Jennifer’s Diary,” which showcased not just her acting skills but also her funny nature. At some point, I started thinking she couldn’t even speak the correct English language due to how good she was in the pidgin language in that movie.

Notwithstanding, she’s among those whose nicknames seem to have taken over their real names in the movie industry.
