Lagos gov wife, cautions against apathy, void votes

The wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has advised Nigerians to come out and vote on election days.

Speaking on Thursday during a parley with artisans, political groups, associations and People Living with Disabilities in the state, on the usage of permanent voter cards and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, she stated that there was a need to encourage people who had collected their PVCs to vote.

A statement on Friday by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Office of the First Lady, Olubukonla Nwonah, quoted Sanwo-Olu as saying, “According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, we have about 5.5 million voters who have collected their PVCs in Lagos State and there is a need to encourage a large percentage of this number to come out and vote on election day.

“More importantly, it is not enough to encourage large voter turnout but to also ensure that voters are adequately schooled on avoiding void votes.”
